Quote for the Day: "Thy kingdom come... on earth" is what we are saying. And if that were suddenly to happen, what then? What would stand and what would fall? Who would be welcomed in and who would be thrown the Hell out? Which if any of our most precious visions of what God is and of what human beings are would prove to be more or less on the mark and which would turn out to be phony as a three-dollar bill? Boldness indeed. To speak those words is to invite the tiger out of the cage, to unleash a power that makes atomic power look like a warm breeze.
Frederick Buechner Quote from the book, "101 Inspirational Stories of the Power of Prayer"

I just found out today how to get over writer's block. It's very simple.I know you'll love this. Brother Jeff (friar) came over today for a visit and before joining the Friars he used to be a newspaper reporter. He was telling at one time when we was doing sports writing he would have to be at the game till it ended, zip back to the office and have a story done in 45 minutes. He said "Writer's Block" was not an option. It had to be done. It might not be done perfectly.. but words definitely had to be on the page. So there you have it. If you ever get stumped about what to write about - just wait till the deadline is 45 minutes away and start writing.
I wonder if that would work for getting holy? Yeah, right, better not go there. I don't think God is going to let that one fly.
Blessings of Peace and All Good,
Sister Patricia and all the Sisters

Ten Minute Meditation
Sister Patricia Proctor
Spokane, Wa
Many times we don't quite believe that Jesus is truly interested in our personal happiness. We let creepy feelings in that tell us that following Jesus is hard and lonely and full of suffering.
I think the truth is that life without Jesus is all those things and it is the trick of the devil to try to get us mixed up!
The truth is--with Jesus, even the worst hardship can become Joy and without Jesus all the money, fame and fortune in the world becomes blah!
So…today…go to your special place in your garden and talk to Jesus about some negative thoughts you have about your Christian walk.
Bring them out in the open. Let Jesus know your fears, doubts and questions.
Prayer when time is completed:
Jesus,
thank you
for letting me discuss
everything
and anything with you.
I know you are Love
and that you desire
only Love and goodness
for me.
Help me to accept your love
more completely in my life.
Amen.

Rejoice in Me
by Msgr. David E. Rosage
Never Wavering
Psalm 57:8
My heart is steadfast, O God;
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and chant praise.
After pleading with God for help in his need, the sacred writer turns to God with this joyful expression of trust.
When we ponder the tremendous love of the Lord for us and when we recall how frequently he has responded to our every need, our hearts too are steadfast. When we reflect that our confidence and trust in the Lord has never been in vain, our steadfast hearts sing and chant his praise.
St. Paul in his pastoral concern says: "Finally, my brothers, your thoughts should be wholly directed to all that is true, all that deserves respect, all that is honest, pure, admirable, decent, virtuous, or worthy of praise." (Phil 4:8)

Daily Readings
|
Jun 18 Wed: Ordinary Weekday
From today's readings:
“When the LORD was about to take Elijah up to Heaven in a whirlwind, he and Elisha were on their way from Gilgal.... Let your hearts take comfort, all who hope in the Lord.... your Father, who sees in secret, will repay you.”
Penance in Progress
Day by day, the lectionary continues to step through the verses of the Lord’s Sermon on the Mount, Chapters 5-7 of St. Matthew’s Gospel. Today’s text should sound especially familiar - it’s read every year on Ash Wednesday, at the beginning of the penitential season of Lent.
Almsgiving, prayer, and fasting are the three subjects our Lord addresses, warning against hypocrisy and pointing out essential traits for the authentic exercise of these self-disciplinary practices.
