Saint John Bosco
|
Lord
you called John Bosco
to be a teacher
and father to the young.
Fill us with love
like his:
may we give ourselves
completely to your service
and to the salvation
of mankind.
We ask this through
our Lord Jesus Christ,
your Son,
who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

So here's the thing. I don't know if anyone is up to participating but I thought it would be rather fun. Check the clock or set your timer and using the comment section below - write five minutes on the word "prayer".
Don't think about it ahead of time - pondering or praying about you will write.. Just Go!
Here's mine.
************************************* Prayer. I don't know what I will write about prayer. I am working on the book about the stories of answered prayer . . . so you can assume that this should be a given for me... but I don't want to write about other people's experience of prayer for this - but my own.
I think my first really exposure to prayer and its effect was when I was about 13 and my brother Mike had his first seizure. He was about 17 I think and he had it outside in our yard. (We lived in the country.) It was very, very scary. It looked like he was dying or something - shaking and convulsing - and then just laying there so still.
That was probably the first time I ever prayed aloud not caring who heard me. Most of the family was around him. I don't know who noticed him first, or how we all came to be there. I just remember all standing around him - in shock not knowing what to do. I think my Dad did, maybe from his army experiences or something. He did something with his mouth and his hands but then we just sort of waited.
***********************************
Alarm went off.... end of writing.. whew... you just don't know where you are going with this stuff do you? Anyway, my brother did survive that seizure. God heard our prayers.
I wonder if anyone else will dare to write something after I wrote that? Who knows...

I am still in the process of choosing the winners for the Book Contest - wanted to have them selected by today... but still in deciding mode! Hard to make the decision! I'm just praying about it .. and know that even if your story was not selected to be a winner ... doesn't mean it wasn't one of the best.. just had to make a decision and go with one of them. And for everyone who has submitted a story - still in process of choosing the stories as well..... so hold on.... and hopefully will get some speed going here!
