Novena For Christian Unity
|
Our Father in Heaven, we pray for the unity
of all humankind in one flock,
and under one shepherd, and especially:
January 25:
For the extension of the Church in all lands.
May they all be one
As you, Father,
in me and I in you.
O God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, grant us the grace
to take to heart the scandal of our divisions. Deliver us
from all hatred and prejudice, and from all that hinders unity.
As there is but one Body and one Spirit,
one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism,
one God and Father of all,
so may we also be of one heart
and one soul,
in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
Save us, O Lord, our God,
and gather us from among
the nations.
that we may give thanks
to your holy name,
and may glory in
praising you.
Let us pray: Be mindful of your Church, O Lord.
Deliver her from all evil,
and perfect her in your love.
As the grain is scattered
on the hillside
and is gathered up to become
one bread,
so let all your children
be gathered up from the ends
of the earth
into your kingdom.
For yours is the power
and the glory,
through Christ Jesus forever.
Amen.

Quote for the Day:
The national anthem of hell is "I Did It My Way."

Today being the feast of Saint Francis de Sales I was optomistic that it would be a good day to work on the book. That I would actually make progress! And guess what! I did. Hurray for Saint Francis de Sales. Now if I can just persuade him to stay around for a few more days, weeks and yes a month would be very, very nice.
Saint Francis is the patron saint of authors, writers, Catholic press, etc. Even I found out the patron saint of Baker, Oregon and Cincinnati, Ohio. Didn't know that. I found out all this information from my favorite saint place here. Saint Francis de Sales Which of course is just one page from the main site which is Patron Saints
Anyway about the book. Somehow I have to get 101 stories edited very, very soon. And somehow I just could not make any headway... but now that the panic button has been pushed and the lights are flashing and the sirens wailing and my "Help me, Somebody!" syndrome has kicked into high gear it may actually happen. Today the "Help Me" person I called on was Saint Francis. Friday is the feast of Saint Paul. Now he really should help me out as well. I mean he did a lot of writing. So that should really be a given. I hope he does. I pray he does.
Did you know that there is a lot of pain involved in editing? Really. Because you want the story to be really good - and at the same time you don't want to change too much what the author originally sent in.. but on the other hand you want the story to flow and fit in with the other stories in the book .... and you don't want to make the author upset because you made a lot changes.. but you really want it to be the very best... and of course you realize that "what you think is the very best" could be the very opposite of what the "author" thinks is the very best... and you don't want to hurt their feelings or get them mad... but you really, really want to do what you think is best.... AND it just gets very hard.. trying to second guess oneself, the author, and most of all the most important person in this whole endeavor.... the READER!
Yikes. My greatest fear is that the author will say, "That's it! You can't use my story. You totally messed it up!" But I've decided if that happens... "Oh well.... look for another story and keep moving forward."
Anyway just thought I would explain some of the indigestion moments that come from editing... just in case you were interested.
And speaking of indigestion... did you know that you can actually already order this book (pre-order) on Amazon? I mean - its like we don't even have the quill hardly dipped into the ink pot and its for sale already. Where's the Alka Seltzer?
