Novena For Christian Unity

Our Father in Heaven, we pray for the unity
of all humankind in one flock,
and under one shepherd, and especially:

January 23:
For the spiritual renewal of all Christians.

May they all be one
As you, Father,
in me and I in you.

O God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, grant us the grace
to take to heart the scandal of our divisions. Deliver us
from all hatred and prejudice, and from all that hinders unity.
As there is but one Body and one Spirit,
one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism,
one God and Father of all,
so may we also be of one heart
and one soul,
in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

Save us, O Lord, our God,
and gather us from among
the nations.
that we may give thanks
to your holy name,
and may glory in
praising you.

Let us pray: Be mindful of your Church, O Lord.
Deliver her from all evil,
and perfect her in your love.
As the grain is scattered
on the hillside
and is gathered up to become
one bread,
so let all your children
be gathered up from the ends
of the earth
into your kingdom.

For yours is the power
and the glory,
through Christ Jesus forever.
Amen.

Last week we started a new horarium. [Horarium = hours] is the name that most monasteries use for their schedule of the day. Our new one worked great for the first two days or so... and then Life seemed to get in the way. Sigh. Why does life do that?

In the Navy it was POD (Plan of the Day). I think maybe in this case... that would apply here. I mean after all.. one doesn't really expect one's "plans" to always happen... but when you do something officially in the Church and give it a nice "Latin" name, it seems like the day should have a little more respect don't you think? You know, like maybe God is behind this one, listen up?

One would think. But obviously life is not as impressed with sticking a Latin name on something as I am. Rats. Maybe we will have to rename it to something with a bit of freestyle flair to it. Something poetic, flowing and fluid like.

'The best laid plans of mice and men' day? or

'Man proposes, God disposes' Day" or

'Do your own thing and God will do His', day?

Uh-oh... do I trace a bit of sarcasm here? A trifle annoyance that God is once again not following my idea of what God should do?

Geesh, I sort of get used to people not doing what I think they should do.. but you would think God would be a bit more accomodating?

What? You think I should be more accomadating to God's plan? Ohhhh. How scary.

Blessings of Peace and Good,
Sister Patricia
