Quote for the Day:
When we do the best that we can,
we never know what miracle is wrought in our life,
or in the life of another.
Helen Keller

Today's card is a birthday card. Anyone's birthday today? Thought it would be fun to use a birthday card once in a while and besides.. today is Sister Colleen's birthday! Happy Birthday Sister Colleen!

A few days ago I received some new equipment for the radio station. I didn't open it right away because I knew I had to wait for someone to hook it all up who knew what they were doing. But then today at dinner I remembered that this particular company always sends a piece of "Almond Rocca" candy in their shipments.. and while I couldn't do much about the equipment. I could probably handle that piece of Almond Rocca.

And truthfully, I was a little curious to see what the equipment (a new mixer) was like even if I didn't hook it up. So... I hauled the box into the living room and opened it up.

The first thing I saw was tons of brown paper all scrunched up. I pulled that out and left it on the floor.

The second thing I found was

THIS CARD! With the attached Almond Rocca bar... which as you can see here holds only the empty wrapper. I will not disclose what happened to its content - but rest assured it found a warm and happy place to spend its last moments.

Then, I opened up the box of the equipment - sort of like boring when you can't do anything with it.... so I didn't take a picture of it. Maybe later.

I did look at the booklet that came with it - hoping to learn something. But it was too techo - so other than sharing a few choice paragraphs with the sisters.

The Cue system can also be used in a "conventional" manner with the addition of an external (amplified) cue speaker, connected via the CUE/TB output jack. (See Section 2.9) The audio level at this jack is controlled by the CUE LEVEL control (24). This Cue audio output mutes whenever the Monitor system is muted. The cue bus can also be heard via the console operators PHONES output. (See Section 4.5).

BUT......

there was a bit more fun involved with this great package!

Jeremiah says "Thanks Ron for the great present!" (Ron is our friend and president of Sacred Heart radio in Seattle/Spokane who sent us these great treasures!) Jeremiah thought the miles and miles of scrunched up brown paper was absolutely wonderful! He rolled in it, pounced on it... crawled under it.... lots of great play time.

Both of us are looking forward to our next shipment of radio equipment. Hmmm.. what can we tell Ron that we absolutely, totally, have to have to make the station run better? Think. Think. Think.

Blessings of Peace and Joy,
Sister Patricia and all the Sisters

101 Inspirational Stories
of the Power of Prayer

This project is placed under the patronage
of the Blessed Mother.
The stories need to provide answers to these questions.

1. How did you pray?
What kind of prayer?
The rosary, scripture or just heart to heart conversation with God?

2.. How committed were you to praying?
Maybe you didn't pray all that much... that's okay.. tell us that ...
but if you prayed a lot - spell it out.
Help us to really get into how much heart and soul went into your prayer.

3. What effect did the answer to your prayer
have on your future relationship to God and prayer?

Stories of the Rosary

Quote from Francisco Suarez

If all the devils should be *arrainged
against me
before the judgement
seat of God;
If the whole of hell
should rise
up against me
and open up its jaws
to devour me;
If all the saints
should desert me;
If thou, O Mary,
wouldst only speak
one word
of intercession
I should be saved.

* arrainged: (1) bring to court to answer charges (2) accuse

Rejoice in Me

Let Us Praise the Lord
Psalm 129:3-4 The Lord is Majestic

The voice of the Lord is over the waters,
the God of glory thunders,
the Lord, over vast waters.
The voice of the Lord is mighty;
the voice of the Lord is majestic.

Imagine yourself standing on a beach and listening to the thunderous dashing of the waves against the rocks, which reveals the might of God's power. The expansiveness of the "vast waters" reminds us of the immensity of God. The rhythm of the waves creates a spectacular scene of God's majesty. When Jesus showed his almighty power in calming the sea, Mark tells us: "A great awe overcame them at this. They kept saying to one another, 'Who can this be that the wind and the sea obey him?' " (Mk 4:41)

Daily Readings
Jan 9 Wed: Christmas Weekday

From today's readings: “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another.... Lord, every nation on earth will adore You.... Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid! ”

Living Love

The entire Bible recounts how God has manifested His love to our world. The entire Bible also insists, often implicitly but at times also explicitly (such as in the first reading), that the logical consequence to God’s love is the reasonable expectation that we, the recipients of God’s love, must love one another.

Both insights are essential. For, when we fail to reflect on the perfection and immensity of God’s love, it becomes all too easy to be complacent about that innate selfishness in fallen human nature that corrodes and curtails the instinct to love others for the love of God. And when we fail to concretely extend the love of God to others, we effectively profess merely a static, stunted faith, unanimated by the transforming nature of divine love.

Every page of the Bible can thus be read very appropriately and profitably simply by considering how it answers the reciprocal questions “What does this reveal about God’s love?” and “What does this imply for my love for others?”
