Novena for Employment
Day Nine - Trusting
The quote from today was taken from the Psalms,
which is of course thousands of years old. I find this thought
quite comforting. For thousands of years these same words have
strengthened and helped countless numbers of people.
From the beginning God knew just what troubles and problems we
would have to deal with, and as a remedy he sent his
Living Word to be there for us.
Now that's planning ahead!
God holds our tomorrows in His hands - so what better can we do
then entrust them to Him!

Novena Prayer
Eternal Father whose infinite love watches
in wisdom over each day
of my life,
grant me the light
to see
in sorrow
as in joy,
in trial
as in peace,
in uncertainty
as in confidence,
the way Your Divine Providence
has marked out for me.
Grant me a strong faith
and trust so pleasing to You,
and I will walk
in darkness
as in light,
holding Your hand.
And finding in all
I receive from Your bounty . . .
"that all things
work together for good,
for those who love You."

Quote for the Day: LIFE is to live and life is to give and talents are to use for good if you choose. Do not pray for easy lives. Pray to be stronger. Do not pray for tasks equal to your powers. Pray for powers equal to your tasks. then the doing of your work shall be no miracle but you shall be a miracle. Every day you shall wonder at yourself. at the richness of life which has come to you by the grace of God. But everyone needs someone. knowing that somewhere someone is thinking of you. Fr. Solanus Casey

Today is the last day of the Novena and this morning I got a beautiful email that I want to share with you. I asked Paula if that would be okay and she said, "Sure, share the joy!" So here is Paula's letter.
---------- Dear Sr Patricia, Thankyou for Joynotes-so inspiring. Thought I would let you know about my 'miracle'. On day 6 of Novena for work I read the quote for Bl Solanus Casey(I saw his life story on EWTN) and decided albeit a little hesitant at first to follow his advice and thank God for the new job ( although I did not have one then) he had given me.
Wow! within within a short space of time my telephone rang and I was offered a nursing post with the Brothers of Charity at Lisieux Hall about 6 miles from where I live.
How about that Sr and thankyou so much for your Novena which I am now finishing for others who are without work and in thanksgiving for my own job. May God Bless you abundantly. Love Paula ( UK ) ----------
Well, a letter like that ought to encourage us all! I know it did me. I immediately started thinking.. hmmmm, now what do I need to start thanking God about so I can get what I need? Now put that way it sounds a bit mercenary doesn't it? I do have that streak in me. But really I do know that thanking God is very powerful... and doing it ahead of time.. is stepping forward with faith.. which is always blessed by God.
It just occurred to me that this is oftten how Jesus himself prayed. Thanking God for the miracles he was about to perform and of course thanking God for the food before we eat it is a simple thing we do surely every day!
One of my favorite scripture quotes (yes, I know I have a lot of them) is "Dedicate yourself to thankfulness."
If you are feeling down and in the dumps... a few minutes of thankful praise to God will set things on a whole new level! And I do thank Paula for that wonderful sharing of her Good News!
Blessings of All Peace and All Good, Sister Patricia
