Novena for Employment
Day Five - Power of Prayer
Click to continue

The Cure of Ars' once defined the power of the Church at prayer in this way. "A single person praying", he said "is like a match. It provides a light in a dark room and is good. But a Church full of people praying is like a bonfire - the whole area is illuminated".

Novena Prayer

Eternal Father
whose infinite love watches
in wisdom over each day
of my life,
grant me the light
to see
in sorrow
as in joy,
in trial
as in peace,
in uncertainty
as in confidence,
the way Your Divine Providence
has marked out for me.
Grant me a strong faith
and trust so pleasing to You,
and I will walk
in darkness
as in light,
holding Your hand.
And finding in all
I receive from Your bounty . . .
"that all things
work together for good,
for those who love You."

Quote for the Day:
Every one must study his own nature. Some of you can sustain life with less food than others can, and therefore I desire that he who needs more nourishment shall not be obliged to equal others, but that every one shall give his body what it needs for being an efficient servant of the soul. For as we are obliged to be on our guard against superfluous food which injures body and soul alike, thus we must be on the watch against immoderate fasting, and this the more, because the Lord wants conversion and not victims.
Francis of Assisi

Goodness sakes.. only one more day till Ash Wednesday. I knew lent was coming early... but already?

I am still in the decision mode of what I'm going to be fasting from... but one thing I decided to do and it may not seem very spiritual but its a big committment for me... and that is to take my vitamins! I swear I can make a jar of daily vitamins last six or seven years. I think for my health's sake I need to do that.... and the more I have been thinking of health (one does as one gets older) it that taking care of oneself is also a thing we do for others.

Well, one big, big thing I finally accomplished today was to select the six winners for the Prayer Story Contest. It was not an easy thing to do.... all the stories have something wonderful and special about them.. but I finally just decided I had to make some decisions and move on this... so... here they are.

Barbara A Woodzell.................. Addiction

Tonie E Tellander...................... Conversion

Juanita R. Wilbanks................. Family

Eleanor E Waeyaert................ Health

Susan M. Walker.................. General

Jo Ann Mason.................... Work

Now my next big thing is to continue with deciding the stories that will be included in the book. Sorry, but as always I'm behind on this too!

Blessings of All Peace and All Good,
Sister Patricia
