Novena for Employment
Day Three - Power of Prayer
It is important as we continue our Novena for work that we believe in the Power of Prayer. By reading
different lives of famous holy people and saints - we find our faith strengthened. By sharing "faith" stories
with one another we build up each other. Pray to the Holy Spirit to guide you in your spiritual reading. You might
be surprised the book God places before you!

Novena Prayer
Eternal Father
whose infinite love watches
in wisdom over each day
of my life,
grant me the light
to see
in sorrow
as in joy,
in trial
as in peace,
in uncertainty
as in confidence,
the way Your Divine Providence
has marked out for me.
Grant me a strong faith
and trust so pleasing to You,
and I will walk
in darkness
as in light,
holding Your hand.
And finding in all
I receive from Your bounty . . .
"that all things
work together for good,
for those who love You."
Prayer taken from a Holy card
of the Poor Clare Sisters in Cleveland, Ohio

Blessing of Candles - the Feast of the Presentation
The Presentation is an evocative liturgical feast, fixed since ancient times on the 40th day after Christmas, following what Jewish law had prescribed for the birth of all first-born males (cf. Ex 13: 2). Mary and Joseph observed it faithfully, as the Gospel account tells us.
Christian traditions of the East and West have been interwoven, enriching the liturgy of this feast with a special procession in which the light of candles both large and small is a symbol of Christ, the true Light who came to illumine his people and all peoples. Today's feast is thus connected with the Nativity and Epiphany of the Lord. However, it also serves as a bridge to Easter by recalling the prophecy of the elderly Simeon, who on that occasion foretold the dramatic destiny of the Messiah and his Mother.
taken from HOMILY OF JOHN PAUL II - Friday, 2 February 2001
This morning I hauled in boxes and boxes of candles to be blessed. I try to order the candles ahead of time for the whole year so that they can be blessed on this day. The last couple of years I had ordered too many previously so there were no new ones to be blessed. This year it was time for new ones! I always like lots of candles waiting to be blessed around the altar for this day.... makes it seem a little more in tune with the day.
Note: I needed to send out this novena card for tomorrow , Sunday ... because the server is going to be down of maintenance later this evening and won't be able to send anything!
