Novena for Employment
Day Two - Expectation
On the second day of our novena we turn to God with expectant faith. Jesus tells us in the New Testament,
"you have not because you ask not", so now we make sure we ask God for just what we want. We write it down on a piece
of paper and make it as detailed as we want...many times the Saints tell us, "we cannot ask God for too much!" Our God is capable
of making a Universe out of nothing - it's not to big a task for him to find good jobs for each and everyone who needs one!
Sister Marcia Kay told us one time of a true experience she had with just such prayer. Several years before she entered
the monastery, herself and her room mate were in need of a new place to stay. Day after day they would go driving around
but could find nothing
that would match their budget. So finally they sat down one evening and made a list - not only of what they needed but
what they would "like"...a house with a big picture window, and a fireplace and all sorts of other details and of course
at a price they could afford which was not very much! The next day as they were driving around they found a house
for sale - that had only been posted for a few hours. It was so nice they knew it was way above what they could afford,
but they decided to inquire anyway. It matched their price! Not only that but every one of the details they had asked for
was part of that house! Naturally they wasted no time in getting it.
So on this second day of our Novena - we ask God to build up our faith.

Novena Prayer
Eternal Father
whose infinite love watches
in wisdom over each day
of my life,
grant me the light
to see
in sorrow
as in joy,
in trial
as in peace,
in uncertainty
as in confidence,
the way Your Divine Providence
has marked out for me.
Grant me a strong faith
and trust so pleasing to You,
and I will walk
in darkness
as in light,
holding Your hand.
And finding in all
I receive from Your bounty . . .
"that all things
work together for good,
for those who love You."
Prayer taken from a Holy card

Saturday is the Feast of the Presentation
Here is the second day of the Novena. I know as we all join together in prayer wonderful things will happen. I remember reading once from a book on the Cure of Ars. He said when one person prays alone it is like a burning match.. but when many join together it is like a bonfire!
So may our prayers joined together make a mighty bonfire of prayer going up to heaven to help each one who is in need of a job or better work situation to receive God's blessing and answer!
God be with you always, Sister Patricia and all the Sisters
