Novena for Employment
Day One - Trust
Click to continue

Today is the first day of nine days in which we join together to pray for good jobs for ourselves, our friends and our families. No matter what our work circumstances are, asking God to bless and improve our work or lack of work will bring down many blessings. In this Novena as all of us are praying for one another - God will bring about wonderful things through such united prayer.

This is a Novena to the "Eternal Father" our loving father who cares so deeply for each of us. The theme of Day One is one of trust. No matter how bad our circumstances may be - we place our lives, our needs and our hopes into God's loving hands. We trust that He will bring about wonderful changes, in ourselves and in the jobs we need to have.

Novena Prayer

Eternal Father
whose infinite love watches
in wisdom over each day
of my life,
grant me the light
to see
in sorrow
as in joy,
in trial
as in peace,
in uncertainty
as in confidence,
the way Your Divine Providence
has marked out for me.
Grant me a strong faith
and trust so pleasing to You,
and I will walk
in darkness
as in light,
holding Your hand.
And finding in all
I receive from Your bounty . . .
"that all things
work together for good,
for those who love You."

Quote for the Day:
Unless a man undertakes more than he possibly can do, he will never do all that he can.
Henry Drummond

Today is the First day of the Employment Novena. If possible try and visit the full color version of this edition so that you can get the prayer and inspiring scripture quote.

A while back I told you about a powerful book I was reading called, 'Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway" by Susan Jeffers. Well I am on Chapter 10 now and it continues to be a powerful, powerful book. I want to share with you one exercise from this book that I tried this afternoon during adoration and it just practically blew me away with its healing. Chapter Ten is called 'Choosing Love and Trust'. Here is the exercise....of course it would be great if you could get this book at the library or somewhere .. but I think this exercise all by itself would still be of great benefit if you try it.

Find an empty room and turn off the telephone. Put on some soothing music. Sit down in a comfortable chair and close your eyes. Visualize someone who brings up a lot of anger or pain in you. Picture them in front of you. First, surround them with rays of healing white light and tell them that you wish them all good things—everything they could possibly want in their life time. Thank them for whatever they have given you. Keep doing this until you feel your negative emotions leaving.

I did the exercise for only ten minutes and found an exciting break through which was surprising to me because I have been working on healing with this person in my life for some time and really thought I was pretty much leveled out. The author said when she first tried this exercise she did it for an hour the first day and then continued doing it for days after until she really felt all the negativity was gone.

Oh and one of the healing parts that I experienced in spending time thanking this person, was realizing that this person challenged me to growth in areas that I would not have experienced. I was forced out of comfort zones not only in dealing with this person.. but in dealing with the emotions of anger, frustration, resentment, etc. that I could otherwise lull myself into thinking I didn't have until I was in confrontation with this person.

The scripture quote.... "Bless those that curse you" took on a whole new meaning as I realized that our seemingly enemies are really our greatest source of finding out new things about ourselves. So we truly should bless them because the growth that can come from them is so huge. And when we get to the point where they no longer can affect us in such a way .. then we know we truly have moved into a new level of inner peace. That is priceless.

The one thing I did that I also think made it much more powerful for me .. was that it was during my adoration time in chapel and I included the Lord as part of seeing those healing rays of white light around the person. I know that made a difference.

Hope you have a wonderful day of healing peace and calm. Joy and Love!
