Saint Mark the Evangelist

Go out to the whole world,
and preach the gospel to all creation.

Father,
you gave St. Mark
the privilege
of proclaiming
the gospel.

May we profit
by his wisdom
and follow Christ
more faithfully.
Amen.

Quote for the Day:
What an extraordinary thing it is, the efficiency of prayer!
Like a queen, it has access at all times to the royal presence,
and can get whatever it asks for!
St. Therese of Lisieux

Quote from the book, "101 Inspirational Stories of the Power of Prayer"

Celebrate the Feast of Saint Mark the Evangelist today!

The Publicity Squad for the prayer book is making great progress! So far about 800 have taken up the torch! I've managed to answer about 150... it takes more time than one would think! I'm pushing as hard as I can though. I am so wonderfully excited with the response and support. Very, very encouraged.

A friend from England shared with me how she and her husband promoted their self-published book. They gave away free books (like we are doing) but it was for anyone who would distribute "flyer's" or mini posters about the book - such as putting them up on a bulletin board; at church, at work, in the laundry mat, grocery store or just mail one to a friend, etc. This made it very easy for those who were helping to promote their books to have easy information to share with others.

You know where I'm going right? Of Course! So just to let you know.. I will include ten flyers with each free book that is sent out. No - you don't have to do anything with them if that is not how you want to promote.. BUT if you do.... they will be there for you to use and share.

The flyers will offer complete ordering information (including a coupon they can just clip and send) - both online and offline - plus a description of the book and a picture. Thank you Coral, for this great tip! Oh, and she also suggested I could have them online for easy printing for anyone who wants more or would just like to do that part. Busy, busy, busy, I must get busy!

The offer is still open for anyone who wants to get on the band wagon and help the cause! Here is my email address if you want to join the Publicity Squad and get a free book! 1srpat@calledbyjoy.com and don't forget to include your complete mailing address

Another friend said she would review my book on her blog.. and she gave me a link to one of them (she has several!) and when I took a quick visit I found this wonderful poem about Clothes Lines! It's so neat.. I think you will like it to. She said I could share it with you. Here is a link to her blog as well if you want to check out what else she has to offer! Mostly Prayers Blog.

A POEM

A clothes line was a news forecast
To neighbors passing by.
There were no secrets you could keep
When clothes were hung to dry.

It also was a friendly link
For neighbors always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.

For then you'd see the 'fancy sheets'
And towels upon the line;
You'd see the 'company table cloths'
With intricate design.

The line announced a baby's birth
To folks who lived inside
As brand new infant clothes were hung
So carefully with pride.

The ages of the children could
So readily be known
By watching how the sizes changed
You'd know how much they'd grown.

It also told when illness struck,
As extra sheets were hung;
Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too,
Haphazardly were strung.

It said, 'Gone on vacation now'
When lines hung limp and bare.
It told, 'We're back!' when full lines sagged
With not an inch to spare.

New folks in town were scorned upon
If wash was dingy gray,
As neighbors carefully raised their brows,
And looked the other way..

But clotheslines now are of the past
For dryers make work less.
Now what goes on inside a home
Is anybody's guess.

I really miss that way of life.
It was a friendly sign
When neighbors knew each other best
By what hung on the line!
