Quote for the Day:
The Lord of the universe is more splendid than the sun and the stars. He will never leave me!
From "St Agnes"

Well I got bogged down this afternoon... I was trying to keep my nose to the grindstone but things started getting gloomier and gloomier. Woe upon woe. Finally finished the project I was working on and decided I needed a walk. So I did. Grabbed my coat, asked Shelley if she wanted to go out and of course she did so out we went.

Wasn't too warm, a little wind so I put on my heavy coat. The sun was shining! Felt so good to be out. I walked the grounds.. four times one way, turned around four times the other. That makes a mile. While I walked I prayed. First the Emergency Novena which is my latest devotion and then just prayed. Almost immediately my gloom lifted. Guess that showed where that was coming from!

My biggest message I got (which I have gotten about a million times before but I'm a slow learner) was, "Relax, you are not running the universe. I have things in control. Take a load off!" Once that had sunk in a bit - I enjoyed the sun, the spring violets starting to peek up from the grass, the blue sky, the racing clouds, everything. It is so nice NOT to be in charge of the Universe. I don't know why I keep thinking it would be cool.

Well of course I don't really, consciously want to be in charge of the Universe.. but I do start fretting over every little thing and big thing and its all under the same agenda I think.

One of the images that came to my mind as I walked was that of a child who is playing. In their play they are so intent whatever they are doing... completely, totally... and yet? How easily they can switch to something else if something else pops in front of them. They enjoy the moment and if the moment changes - Boom... then they are solidly in the next thing. The "Oh my gosh, I should be doing something else, Factor" doesn't seem to be as entrenched in kids. Gotta do that more often.

Sort of like this silly dog I was out with. I decided to pick up this little twig because I felt like it would be nice to have something in my hand to sort of swish back and forth as I walked. So of course the silly dog HAD to have my little twig. So what the heck.. go ahead and give the twig to the silly dog. Dog took twig very happily... took about three steps with it and decided it wasn't such a great twig after all and dropped it.

Now wouldn't it be nice if we could drop things as easily if we see they are not working out? Like buying something you think will be really neat... and then find out it wasn't so hot after all but you keep it around for the next ten years out of guilt for getting it. Geesh!

Oh, before I forget. Thank you for the great ideas some of you have shared. They are wonderful. I will keep adding them to the list. I got a call from my friend Sister Janet in London and she said she already found the list helpful for her... maybe others will too and we can all benefit from this little brainstorming session!

God bless you very much!
