Quote for the Day:
The mere act of prayer is abhorrent to the forces of evil, and
you will find that there will be all kinds of hindrances (depression,
doubt, frustrations and so on). Many of those hindrances will
have the smell of sulphur smoke about them.
Steve Brown

Took my mom to get a CAT scan today. You will be glad to know that I had no problem finding the building. So that part was not bad. Went inside the door and asked at the information desk where to go .. and found the right place. That was not so bad.

We waited in the reception area for a little while and my mom made interesting "loud" comments about people.. but wasn't too bad. A lady came in with a big basket like thing and she thought that was very funny. What do you suppose is in that she asked me. I told her it was a baby. Oh. she thought that was a lot better than carrying them. We had that discussion for awhile.

Then we were called in and put in a little room and my mom was given two glasses of water to drink. I had to go to the bathroom so I asked the attendant if she could stay with my mom a moment. She said yes. I came back and the attendant left. My mom told me that the lady was quite insistent that she drink two glasses of water. She looked at me and smiled and said, "We will just tell her I did." Meaning of course that she had no intention of drinking two glasses of water but if it made the lady happy to think she would she was fine with that.

So I looked in my bag and found a piece of paper and wrote her a note that said she had to drink the two glasses of water because she was going to have a test and the water needed to be drunk. So she read that and went along with the program. I also drew a little stick figure of a person with a glass of water in each hand. She was impressed with my artwork. She thought the glasses looked like hands and that they should have fingers on them. So I made little fingers on them. She drank the water.

Next we went for the actual scan. She laid down on the bed that goes through the tube. Looked very comfortable. They covered her with a nice blanket. Then they drew some blood. That wasn't so hot but after they left she closed her eyes and went to sleep. Real sleep. With little soft snores because after all it was nap time for her and one place is as good as another.

I went to the waiting room because I thought she would be fine without me and I didn't feel like getting any radition if I didn't need to. I didn't think it would take very long. It took forever. I mean like forever. Like why didn't they tell me it was going to take this long? I would have stayed with her if I had known it was going to be THAT long.

Finally the CAT scan lady came and told me that the equipment had malfunctioned and they had someone coming to fix it. See, it really was a LONG time. My mom came and sat with me in the little waiting room. She did not feel very good. "Funny" she said. I could understand that. We had to wait until they fixed the machine and then she had to go back and go through it again. When we finally were done and could leave ... I asked her if she wanted anything to eat since she hadn't eaten anything since breakfast but she didn't. She was still feeling funny. We just went home.

I didn't get any work done on the book today. I came home, had a bowl of soup and took a nap. I was starting to feel sort of "funny" myself.

Blessings of Peace,
Sister Patricia

FOREWORD (Part Three)

By Jerry Usher

Being frail human beings wounded by our own sins and the sins of others, there can be any number of obstacles in the way of our entering into a fruitful life of prayer. Perhaps you feel that God couldn?t possibly answer your prayers. Or maybe you don?t think you should bother Him with your petitions. You might even have an unhealthy fear of God because of some hurt you suffered earlier in your life. Each of us likely has something standing in the way of our prayer life reaching its full potential.

If you sense any fear, hesitancy, or other impediment to praying, then the place to start is to ask the Lord to remove such barriers and grant you the freedom to become the trusting child He has created you to be. There?s nothing God wants more than to communicate closely with you, for you to share every single aspect of your life with Him, and to bestow upon you ?every spiritual blessing in the heavens,? as Ephesians chapter 1 says.
