Quote for the Day: Prayer is any converse between the soul and God. Hence it is that state in which the soul looks wordlessly on God, solely occupied with contemplating him, telling him with looks that it loves him, while uttering no words, even in thought. Venerable Charles De Foucauld

Today we have had Snow and Hail and Sun and rain. So much for dizzy weather!
For anyone who has contacted me in the past.. and have my email address in their email address file... I've changed. Started getting about 400 spams per hour this morning so figured it was about time to do something. Actually what happened was that spammers were using my email address and all their bad emails were bouncing back to me. That was so uncool. So I just closed the account.... I can't use it but neither can they. So There!
A few weeks ago I did a radio interview with Frank Morock at Catholic Bookmarks. It aired this week. About 15 minutes in length I think. Here is the link if you want to listen .. you can save it for later listening too if you like. Radio Interview

AND if you have a few minutes and enjoy the Catholic Bookmarks - not only mine but all the other great interviews they have - you can help keep it on the air by going to this page and sending in a short comment! Catholic Bookmarks Comment
Time for Evening prayer.. pretty obvious we won't be doing it outside unless we grab our coats, hat and gloves!
God bless you very much! Sister Patricia
P.S. I am working out the details for the book pre-sales if you are interested.... and also plans to offer a Free book for anyone who will help me to promote the book such as write a letter to a friend, show it your Church group, leave a comment on a blog.. etc. More details about that tomorrow!

Rejoice in Me
by Msgr. David E. Rosage
Might and Majesty
Psalm 33:8-9
Let all the earth fear the Lord;
let all who dwell in the world revere him.
For he spoke, and it was made;
he commanded, and it stood forth.
The entire universe and all the mystery which it holds was created by an act of the will of God. "He spoke, and it was made."
We, too, were in the mind of God from all eternity. His love called us into being at this designated time. By his redemption, Jesus recreated us. His abiding presence with us continues the process of re-creation within us.
St. Paul's summary is full of meaning: "In him everything in heaven and on earth was created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominations, principalities or powers; all were created through him, and for him. . . . In him everything continues in being." (Col 1:16-17)

Safer Sipping
I give up. I have officially been disturbed enough by reports of the health risks associated with the use of plastic sippy cups containing bisphenol A or BPA to get rid of ours. I have been shopping for replacements and finding a number of different options. I thought we could share some information and recommendations here.
I’m kind of partial to this cool stainless steel design by Thermos. But one review I read said it was hard to put together and rather leaky:

On a personal note…
On the way
Memories are a strange and wonderful thing. In 1973, when I went to visit my Great-Aunt Ena in Stratford-on-Avon, it was to say goodbye to her before I entered Religious life. Sadly, we did not meet again as she died a short time afterwards.
Attending a Catholic teachers’ conference at the weekend, where Mission Together (Holy Childhood) had a display, there was the opportunity to wander around early in the morning, looking for the street where she used to live.
Interestingly, even though the town is extremely beautiful, it was as if it were the first visit. Everything was so new and so fresh. There was almost nothing of the actual town of Stratford-on-Avon that I remembered after a 35 year absence…and yet, as fresh as the architecture appeared, so did the memories of conversations with my great-aunt. They remained after the images of buildings had long ago disappeared into oblivion.
Is it not a sign of what is really important in life that we can forget beautiful sights and sounds, but remember people, with their words, smiles, gestures and essence?
It really is so silly to look for material goods: they are so passing. Graveyards are full of lichen-covered stones from which time has obliterated names and epitaphs. The stones are obscured with the passage of time, yet what remains is the knowledge that the stone marks a person, a family, a history.
It was exciting but nostalgic to find the little street where my great-aunt used to live. Time passes and caries with it so many rich and varied experiences. It is the people we meet on the way whom we carry with us for ever.
God bless,
Sr. Janet

Daily Readings

Apr 22 Tue: Easter Weekday
From today's readings:
“It is necessary for us to undergo many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.... Let all Your works give You thanks, O LORD, and let Your faithful ones bless You.... Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.”
The Gift of Peace
One of the aspects of authentic Christianity that appeals to believers and unbelievers alike is the commitment to peace. But, as Christ Himself explains, “Not as the world gives, do I give [peace] to you.”
At the most primitive level, peace can be defined as “the absence of war or hostilities.” While Jesus certainly condemns wanton violence, He never advocated the type of radically compromising pacifism that would grasp for peace even at the price of principle - if necessary, Jesus is reconciled to being the source of division in order to put an end to such false peace (cf. Luke 12:51).
We can also speak of interior peace, the freedom from all disturbances. Here again, the world offers a pseudo-brand of such peace, for example, in the form of euphoric pop psychology which would anesthetize even the legitimate pricks of conscience.
But the peace that Jesus gives is more than the world can give, for it is the peace that He Himself possessed! At every moment, Jesus was fully aware of God the Father’s love and providence, which infinitely outweigh all troubles and fears. Even in the midst of bitter exterior cold, one can bundle up in a cozy coat, and look ahead to a warm hearth of welcome, and likewise, even when faced with the most perturbing threats and problems of this life, we can take comfort in the peace that Jesus gives His followers in this life, and the fullness of peace to which He calls us in the next life.
